The Northwest Region's first youth technology festival, 1,000+ participants, three days, ten startup products built, and a government summit that changed the conversation.
From digital skills training to a live government Tech Summit, three days that set the foundation for the Northwest Region's digital future.
Five finalist teams pitched before 750+ attendees and a panel of government and industry judges at Cathedral Hall.
DIRA Tech Fest 2026 was conceived, planned, and executed by a core team of eight young people based in Bamenda, operating as DIRA (Digital Era), the youth innovation branch of ASWEDO (Aspired Women Empowerment and Development Organisation), a registered non-profit headquartered at AWICCUL Building, Commercial Avenue, Bamenda.
The event was delivered entirely through personal financial investment and community support, a deliberate decision to establish proof of concept before seeking institutional partnerships for future editions.
The 2026 edition drew representatives of three government ministries, NFC Bank's Regional Manager, and over 1,000 members of the public to Cathedral Hall, demonstrating that the Northwest Region will show up for a well-designed youth innovation event.
Moderated by Mr. Reinhard Nebassi, the Tech Summit brought together six senior institutional figures on a single stage, a panel the organising team believes was without precedent in the Northwest Region for its composition and directness.
Every exhibiting business received free, professionally allocated space and direct access to government delegates, investors, and over 1,000 members of the public at Cathedral Hall.
